Sensei Delaine

In 2000 Sensei Delaine started karate in St.Albert under the instruction of
Sensei Norm Volk.

In 2002 and at the rank of green belt Sensei Delaine moved to Red Deer. Like Sensei Walter, she was relieved and excited to find that Sensei Rathe had a club in Didsbury. The 45 minute drive south from Red Deer quickly became a regular routine, and by the end of October 2005, she received her Shodan black belt in Virden Manitoba .

In June of 2006, she flew to Welland Ontario to take part in the national team try outs. After an extremely grueling weekend she was successful at securing a spot as the female light weight for the 2006-2008 national Shintani Wado Kai Karate team member. Team competition included competitions across Canada and the Vegas International. She now assists the national competition team manager.

October 2007, in Virden Manitoba , Sensei Delaine graded to her Nidan (2nd degree black belt).

Sensei Jan has lived in Didsbury since 1991. She started Wado Kai Karate in Airdrie in 2000 under the instruction of Sensei Janet Boglole and Sensei Gerard Chiang.

Two years later,  Sensei Janet closed her club and the timing coincided with Sensei Rathe opening his club in Didsbury. The timing could not have been better.

For the next few years she moved through her belt ranks until October of 2007 when she traveled to Virden Manitoba where she successfully graded to her Shodan.

Sensei Dee (back to top)

Sensei Dee currently holds the rank of shodan (1st degree black belt). She started karate in Edson in 1997 at the age of 10. She has attended and competed in many tournaments and workshops at every rank, and has made shindo an equal part of that training. She has assisted the club with numerous demonstrations and other promotion.  Sensei Dee graded to her shodan in May of 2006 in Edmonton, AB.

Like many young adults going to school Sensei Dee has had to make school and work her priority. Despite her absence from regular class, her talent has not diminished, as when she is able to attend, she quickly stands out on the floor with strong techniques and ability.

Sensei Dylan (back to top)

Sensei Dylan currently holds the rank of shodan (1st degree black belt). Sensei Dylan started karate in Edson in 1997 at the age of 7.
